Piano lessons

“The piano ain’t got no wrong notes.”

Thelonious Monk

Starting the piano.

Looking for a piano teacher can be a bit of a daunting experience. There are a lot of teachers out there, so you may be wondering what to look for and more specifically, what I offer.

What I offer.

Primarily I provide individual piano lessons to adults (beginners or returning players) and teenagers, but I also teach younger students who are more advanced or beginners over the age of 10. I also teach professional instrumentalists and singers who want to improve their piano skills in order to accompany themselves or their students.

I have extensive teaching experience having taught in a range of settings for over 30 years. I have a Bachelor of Music from Melbourne University, Associate in Music Australia (AMEB) and I am an AMEB registered teacher.

As a teacher I am patient and gentle, encourage regular practice, good technique and use a variety of repertoire. I aim to create a comfortable environment where each student feels safe, supported, inspired and motivated. I teach students individually, at their own pace, and cover all aspects of technique,  repertoire and theory.

I have a strong interest in the connection between learning and mental health, and a particular interest in supporting students with anxiety, depression and PTSD. Find out more information here >>

I also mentor and support new piano teachers in their practice. If you are a piano teacher starting out looking for some support please get in touch.
